This project displays a photograph of a coffee tree found in Lago Agrio, Sucumbios, Ecuador. This is one of many contaminated fields by oil spills produced by Texaco during the 70’s. Texaco (now Chevron) operated in the Ecuadorian Amazon region for many years, leaving behind an ecological catastrophe. The Petroleum contamination in the Sucumbíos province of Ecuador has caused water and soil contamination, damaged agriculture, and increased cancer and disease rates in local communities.A journey for other coffee investigates a way of remediation of these fields by using biological organisms such as mushrooms or marine sponges. In this case, a customized coffee maker has been designed in order to brew coffee trough a biological filter.
